Also this is a plot bunny that happened as I read one of Kode Dekka's fanfics (“Always”). Much like their kin, the dust bunny, these bunnies just keep getting bigger and bigger until taken care of so without further ado consider it taken care of.
This is posted on fanfic.net under the title or Mooniecat as author. Kode Dekka is an author there.

At Last, At Last

Signum was driving herself to the old Section 6 building which was now a special advance training detachment under the command of Captain Takamachi Nanoha. Nanoha had asked her to help out in training in battle tactics normally ascribed to the Belkan way of fighting and to speak briefly about Unison devices. It was a shame Agito was not here but Signum liked to give her a chance to visit her friend, Lutecia, whenever she could and Nanoha had asked on the spur of the moment after finding out she was in between missions on a standard time of leave. Signum had found it hard to say no.

“Signum!” The young lady with the russet hair in her usual Air Combat Armed Corps uniform called out.

“Takamachi.” Signum nodded her respects with the greeting.

It did not surprise her that Nanoha would be taking on classes as well as her command duties despite her having two other instructors she had personally chosen. The young woman had the almost endless energy of a two year old. She also knew that Nanoha would just nod that she heard your worries and she understood them even if she did not slow down so Signum did not waste her breath saying anything to the effect. Nanoha liked doing her job too much not to throw everything into it. Signum figured Nanoha had gotten the point about over doing it unnecessarily long ago.

They talked as Nanoha led the way to the cafeteria for lunch and she felt the familiar jolt of amazement of how informed Nanoha was in so many things going on in various departments and companies of the TSAB. In fact, she knew only Hayate and Chrono Harlaown were perhaps more connected. Again she wondered if it was because Nanoha was an instructor. She caught Nanoha glancing at her and was glad she had practice in keeping her thoughts from showing. Nanoha did not tease much but she did so occasionally. Nanoha was also truly one of a very few persons who could read people like a book. Nanoha only turned her gaze back forward after another second and Signum breathed a silent relieved sigh.

Later, in front of all three classes Nanoha had wanted to make sure heard Signum's lecture, Signum faced Nanoha in the demonstration portion of the lecture. They had agreed to what would be shown so that Nanoha could continue to talk through the mock battle they put on. She continued her part almost automatic as she listened to Nanoha but perversely she wished she was facing one Fate Testarossa Harlaown instead. She wanted to let go and just fight. At last they came to the end and Nanoha dismissed the classes for the rest of the day.

As they walked to Nanoha's commander's office, the same one Hayate had once occupied during Section 6 days, Signum continued to think about battles and of the differences of both Fate and Nanoha's battle styles. She liked fighting Fate. The woman was all quick silver and edge on, much like Signum herself. It was a fight between two competitive friends who were very much equal in ability. Nanoha now, that was another story.

It had taken Signum a while to realize that Nanoha was really the most dangerous person she had battled in a long time. Only Nanoha's relative lack of experience had lulled Signum into thinking that Nanoha was not her equal during the first few years of their knowing each other. She had even wondered how Fate could have lost to her. Yet as time went on and she kept observing Hayate and her friends, she would come to know the truth and that was that Nanoha's will coupled with her innate battle sense would, given a chance, usually get the job done. She really was the Ace of Aces. Nanoha was not her equal though. No, Nanoha had surpassed her. While fighting Fate was fun, fighting Nanoha was a measure of her ability to battle. So far they had still not gone fully all out but she knew she had a real chance to lose.

“I know you are busy and I really appreciate you coming today.” Nanoha thanked her again and she waved it off.

“I had the time. I am not expected to have a mission until next week.” She did not mention how silly it was to give her time for rest between missions but Nanoha's twitching lips said she heard the thought anyway. “I had already done my reports as well.”

“Still.” Nanoha did not continue on it beyond that. She did smile at her as she asked, “So since you are free, would you like to come to dinner? Vivio is staying overnight with friends on a sleepover. I wouldn't mind the company.”

Signum thought about it for a moment. No one was at home either. Hayate and Vita was inspecting a post on an administrated planet while Shamal had been called to help with some sickness that was affecting many on another. Zephira had gone with Shamal. She shrugged and nodded to Nanoha. “Yes, that would be nice.”

After Nanoha did her most important paperwork and signed a few forms, they left. Signum drove Nanoha home since Nanoha did not have her own car. She usually let the duty driver drop her off when they made their rounds. Signum knew Fate would let her use her car but Nanoha used the mornings to run and took a shower at work before doing her command work. So Signum sat down in the living room, while Nanoha disappeared into her room to change out of her uniform. She kept pushing to the next channel, trying to find something interesting and missed Nanoha going into the kitchen to cook.

“Hope you like spaghetti.” Nanoha called out as she finally settled on some history show of the early years of the TSAB and Mid-childan politics at the time.

“That is acceptable.” She replied and listened to Nanoha bustling and humming. It was a nice sound.

As she watched the show with only half of her attention, she looked around the room. Nothing much had changed since the last time she was here except a few more pictures and new pillows for the couch. Apparently Nanoha and Vivio still liked the way the room looked and so was keeping this arrangement a little longer than most previous ones. Vivio shared Nanoha's energy and work ethics. She remembered Nanoha's talk with Vivio on over doing things when it was not necessary as she helped explain Nanoha's past injuries. Between they and Vita later, Vivio would hopefully avoid getting injured as bad. That reminded her again of Nanoha's incredible will.

She then jumped as something cold was pressed on her neck. She had not heard nor felt Nanoha coming up behind her while she had been lost in thought. This seem to amuse Nanoha immensely and she frowned in her embarrassment as she reached for the beer Nanoha was offering her. Nanoha then went back to the kitchen while snickering. Signum sighed and was glad she was not the blushing type. Now that would have really caused some teasing, the information also mentioned to friends and family. She would much rather hear Nanoha snickering than Hayate's remarks, Vita's retorts, and Fate's good natured taunts.

She wondered into the kitchen after downing her beer to offer to set the table. The offer was accepted and she started to gather the plates. Suddenly, she leaned back to avoid something thrown at her. Nanoha's laughing caused her to scowl threateningly and she looked at what had been thrown at her. On a particular wall hanging she saw a noodle sticking to it. She raised an eyebrow.

“It's done.” Nanoha answered the eyebrow.

“Ah.” Signum realized she had been teased again. She continued her table setting work.

Nanoha just grinned and got everything in the serving dishes. They sat down and ate in companionable silence. Signum always enjoyed Hayate and her friends' cooking and tonight's dinner was superb. Like everything else Nanoha worked at, the spaghetti showed improvement from the last time she had it. Did the woman ever feel satisfied at something? Still Signum understood and admired it. She stifled a sigh.

“Something wrong, Signum?” She had forgotten to hide and Nanoha had noticed.

“No. Nothing. An errant thought.” She hoped her reply would sufficed.

“Mmmm, are you sure? Lately you have been doing that and I had wondered. You know I would help you if only to listen.” Signum felt a bit panicky upon that and Nanoha caught that reaction too. “Signum?” She asked the knight uncertainly.

It was the worse case now. For years Signum had worked to avoid this moment but it had caught her and at the worse time. She just was not ready yet. She looked and flinched as doubt filled blue eyes starred back at her. She bit back profanity at seeing how the flinch added a hint of hurt as well as confusion to them. What could she say? How could she explain?

“Ah, I guess not then.” Even Nanoha's voice had a touch of forlorn in it and Signum cursed herself silently. She knew Nanoha's natural need to help caused her pain when it was rejected. She watched as the young woman shred a slice of bread as she looked at Signum and dredged up a smile. “Just remember I am here.”

She had never spontaneously done things. She always thought of her actions. She planned, she acted but she never just moved without thinking. Yet Signum found herself standing up and rushing around the table to embrace Nanoha. The younger woman stiffened in momentary surprise before hugging her back. Signum lowered her head to the smaller woman's head. “Nanoha.” She breathed.

Suddenly she was pushed back away and found herself under shocked eyes. “Signum!” Nanoha's voice reflected the shock. Signum knew right then she had done something horrible and yet she could not say anything. To say something would do the one thing nothing in all the centuries had done; it would break her beyond repair. At last she managed to close her eyes.

Just as suddenly as she had been pushed back, she found herself pulled forward! Her eyes flew open in time to see the intense joy in those sapphire eyes before her lips were claimed. She faintly remembered kissing from the past but nothing compared to this, this hungry feeling she could only respond in kind to. Nanoha, the girl she watched grow up, respected and admired told her exactly just what she thought in her kiss. They were both crying tears of happiness and Signum reveled in the wonder that finally after all those lonely centuries had happened, a miracle occurred and she found love at last.

Black as the devil, hot as hell, pure as an angel, sweet as love. - Talleyrand

Zombie Bait

Mornings here are foggy humid affairs masking the starting traffic sounds and dimming lights to spots of white barely visible. The kind of morning armies of days before technology would set to attack because one knew no matter what, surprise was always likely. Mornings just before light where anything could happen since one could not see it coming. That morning was no exception.

It was the last Friday of October as I was setting up for a meeting of the managers and other VIPs of the company for the both the annual inventory and quarterly earning reports. By myself, I may add but then again, I would be free for the rest of the day after clean up and mostly the work was making sure the hotel's equipment worked right as well as making sure there was plenty of coffee and snacks at the beginning and then later letting them know we were finished so they could take out everything and clean it all up. I would have a nice half day since even if the morning looked nasty, the rest of the day was predicted to be mild and sunny, a beautiful day. Thus I was in a fairly good mood. Waving to some poor soul who had apparently had just woken up and was stumbling around the hall, I headed into the conference room we were going to use.

The equipment check was good, the handouts were sitting ready on the table by the door and I set about making the coffee. It was right at this moment that my good mood was dimmed as I always feel affronted that I who detested it, had to make the coffee. It was a common occurrence to me as for some reason I, as my boss put it, “make a good cuppa joe” and I loath the duty. The smell was okay, maybe, but the taste was nasty. I had always hated coffee, preferring tea or especially it's kin, hot chocolate, to the bitter foul stuff. Soon the room was filled the smell of the rich black crap but still my spirits rose again as now I could take a well deserved break.

As I was grabbing a snack, some cinnamon buns fresh and still slightly warm, I heard the noise behind me and with a glance at my watch, frowned as it was too early for anyone else to have arrived yet. I strode to the double doors annoyed my break was over too quickly when suddenly, the doors slammed open! I stumbled to a stop surprised at this so it took me precious moments to realize just who had interrupted my quite time.

Zombies! A horde of them! I was unprepared! I did not have my handguns nor even a knife close to me! I rushed to the table I had just left to grab something but they moved so quickly I was being overtaken. I despaired while listening to their incoherent mumbles reached me and closed my eyes to await the grasps only hoping that I would die quick in their obvious haste for my brain. I counted seconds unwillingly as I felt them surround me.

But wait...! I opened my eyes. At last the shock that held me in their midst wore off and I stumbled not a moment too soon out to a near wall as I watch them tear into each other as they fought to their targets. I slid down in disbelief as I finally made sense of that mumbling. “Cooooooffeeeeee, coooooooffeeeeee!” Eventually, the remainder had drank almost every last drop before the air was filled with the scent of coffee once more from somewhere else and they hurriedly shuffled out. It took me more time to shakily get up and survey the gory mess.

Another noise in the direction of the doors had me spinning around in alarm! Yet it was only some stranger. He looked at me and at the mess. “What happened?” He queried but I could not quite answer. Avoiding the mess he somehow got to the table and looked at it. I watched still unable to speak as he idly picked up one of the overturned coffee urns and set it up. “Oh a bit is still inside and it looks good.” He stated and poured it into a cup. Grabbing a piece of cake he proceeded to take a sip. To my horror a change seem instantaneously to come over him. He stumbled out the door mumbling “Coooooffeeee”.

Yes, that's what happened that day. That was the last time I ever dealt with it. Indeed this quote:"Coffee leads men to trifle away their time, scald their chops, and spend their money, all for a little base, black, thick, nasty, bitter, stinking nauseous puddle water." by 'The Women's Petition Against Coffee' (1674) sums up my feeling nicely. The government finally put an end of them and I could care less. Still you had asked.

Bonus Short-Short:

There it was, that unusual drink. Not the normal milk nor some two or one percent milk of those worried of his weight. Nope, this was a somewhat bitter drink that cut through the sweet cookies with amazing ease. He liked it. No, he loved it! It filled him with a vigor he hadn't felt in years, centuries perhaps. Suddenly he could indeed deliver every gift to every person on his good list with flair. He even felt so good he decided not to give any of the coal out either. In record time he had finished and still he was raring to go do more!

Next year, one Alfred Muns awoke to find his house full of coal. When the bewildered and distraught (the government was not happy and levied a high fine on him as well as charged for clean up) man finally got to check out his cleared house, he found this note.

Mr Muns,

I hope you are happy. After Santa drank your offering of coffee, it took me a week to get him to finally leave me alone and get some sleep.

Uncordially,
Mrs. Santa

I noticed something today;
The axe was gone.
I looked for it
Because I was afraid.
I don't know why though.
I am sitting in my room
By myself in the house,
All alone.
I start to hear things
That my mind sorts out.
There, that's it!
The slow footsteps
On the steps outside my door.
And I watch horrified,
As the door opens slowly,
Too slowly and I scream!
There is no one
To help me now,
No one to hear my screams!
My eyes are closed
And I wait
For the axe to fall.
I hear nothing
And I open my eyes.
Something comes flying
Through the darkness!
I scream.
Then I exclaim as my hand
Touches something furry,
"Oh Stuffen, really!"
And laugh holding my kitten.

First a bit of explaining to do. When I say mainframe, I mean the precursor to a local network. The year was 1989 or 90 and things ran on DOS and C just started. This poem is about how folks viewed my oh so primitive profile (which was on said profile) I needed for a class where I was learning the basics of programing using Module (a pascal derivative). Remember, programmers have a warped, gutterish sense of humor sometimes. *written exactly how it was seen*

A poem for those who care to see this...

I'VE BEEN FINGERED!

It doesn't seem right
Nor humane and yet,
I am noted and profaned!
All in a word
And kind of a name,
Some stupid humor I find
Just horridly so.
What could have possessed
The programmers of the system
To use such a silly command?
But on the system I must be.
So if you need to know just
Who I am..., just Finger me!

Declaimer: I do not own anything of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha although I wished I did but lack of money keeps me from doing so. Which also means that suing me is also a wasted effort.

That Sweet Smile

She had a brilliant sweet smile. That had been the first thing anyone had noticed at the time. It was a smile that had only been reserved for family, one that had been absent for the last nine months, a smile of happiness and pride with just a hint of shyness as if she wondered how it was that she was allow to have that happiness and pride. Nine months ago she had lost most of that happiness.
Her children understood. It was to be expected of their kind and gentle mother, the mother who had understood and sympathized with their growing up selves often going up to their more strict and almost overprotective parent to make sure they had just enough room to make their own mistakes and hurts without getting into too much trouble. Of course their parents had been perfectly matched and gave them, by example, an understanding of a good relationship so that they were now all happily married but it had been her who had made each spouse feel truly welcomed into the family.
Her friends expected it. Her feelings were had always been both so awkward and yet so true. They recalled the beginning and how shy she continued to be no matter how much she had done. The relationship with her best friend that had turned to love right before their eyes seem to be a given thing and the large, beautiful family she had was the just rewards for the very healthy bedroom life she had. She had been there when things needed to be done, sometimes to the frustration of everyone when she would insist on it. She believed in doing her job right. She even tried to hide her injuries and make sure everyone was taken care of. It was too bad for her that her spouse always could read her and scold her. Still she would only say back that it was like the kettle calling the pot black sometimes with a wry smile.
Anyone who knew anything about her was not surprised either. They would only say that she worked, played and loved only her best. She was a person who overcame odds and gave so much back that she was pointed out as a role model. Even after retirement she had been active in the community and was only too happy to lend a helping hand when asked. Those who did not know her could see for themselves how she and her beloved partner had shown time and again this commitment to the ideals of society.
Still it had not taken anyone by surprise when Fate died nine months after Nanoha. Being the powerful active mages they had been for so long, it had taken a toll and shorten their lives. Nanoha had not even seen fifty-five years of age and they had always been so close. No one, not family, friends, nor anyone was surprised to find Fate following Nanoha. After nine months of a ghost of it, she was finally able to smile that way again. After all, Nanoha was waiting.

The war was far from over and yet it was the end. Neither man nor beast would survive the burning split world caused by such fearsome weapons still the war continued on. In time the war finally stopped and many, many records were destroyed by both sides; the losers worried that they would be immediately put to death and the victorious making sure that their own monstrosities would be lost to future generations (and not put to trial themselves). The ruined split planet floated in mockery in its same orbit around the star of its system long forgotten by then.

I'm not DEAD. D: I've been on Iwaku. Which occasionally makes me feel like a traitor, but most of the AFTA people that actually roleplay regularly are over there roleplaying already. >>;

In fact, I kinda like how quiet AFTA is an how it's a place for me and my girls to spam with all of our personal roleplays. >:D Like mine and Azul's or mine and Ocha's roleplays Or Dawn and Maggie's.

Not that I've had much time/brains to come back and continue the plots I really want to continue. >< I get distracted.

BUT MY REAL REASON FOR POSTING IN THE BLOG WAS A DIANA-LIFE UPDATE for those that don't use Facebook and watch me spam Farmville. >>;

We've just put in a home loan application for, yes, A HOME LOAN. >:D FOR OUR FIRST HOUSE. The house across the street from the in-laws is now for sale at a REALLY good price and by friends, so we're getting a good deal and they're selling to us first if we can get the loan. And they want to be moved out by October 1st. WHICH IS BADASSLY AWESOME cause we could be in the house ourselves by the end of October. >:D

The house is a sweet three bedroom two bath, with a fireplace, backyard, HOT TUB, all the appliances, garage and is PERFECT.

So fingers crossed that the bank approves our loan application. t_____t We don't have ANY debt and we've always paid our rent on time, and always get our bills paid even if they're occasionally a few days late.

Then Diana and Company will have HOUSE and everyone could come and visit for cool house parties and get to sleep in our guest bedroom instead of on the couch or the floor or in their car! XD

Maybe then I'll learn to time manage better and get back to my AFTA roleplays. *Koff!*
